The Top 5 Web Blogging Platforms


The world has changed so much in the last 50 years. People in the 1700s will not believe how fast a word can travel and how many people can see it today. Just imagine all the thought that went into printing the first newspaper so people can read the latest news. Now, you can create a blog for free and your musings and opinions have the capability to reach thousand if not millions of people worldwide. It’s pretty awesome don’t you think?
If you decide to join the Blogging community and probably earn an income out of it, here are the most popular blogging websites today.
  • WordPress
  • According to its co-founder, this open source platform powers 18.9% of the World Wide Web. WordPress has a free account but you can also purchase your own domain for only $18 a year. A bit on the technical side, it’s not as easy as setting up a Facebook page. You need time to master it if you’re a newbie. But, it gives users a lot of power to customize their page.
  • Blogger
  • This is a great platform for those new to blogging. You don’t need to know HTML or any other program and it doesn’t need coding like WordPress.  It’s elementary.  Owned by Google, you can create a blog by using your Google account. It’s perfect for personal blogs rather than business blogs.
  • Tumblr
  • This is another user friendly website, which is probably why it belongs to the top 3. If you’d like to start posting as soon as you create your blog, you can start here. It is very simple to use. Tumbler is ideal for personal visual blogs where you can share photos and artwork.
  • Weebly
  • This can serve as your introduction to blogging. Your first blog. It is in the list of Time’s 50 Best Websites. If you prefer not to use the HTML and CSS Editor, you can just utilize the drag and drop interface to design your blog. It’s free, doesn’t have ads and have lots of templates to choose from.
  • SquareSpace
  • Best for business and individual blogs. This platform is not for free. It offers a free trial and charges a minimum of $8 afterwards. While it’s not as popular as WordPress, it can get your site up quickly so you can start getting some traffic.
